Yes, there is such a thing as “more unique”.

We have had the pleasure to work with some of the world’s finest interior designers and wonderfully creative clients to create one-of-a-kind treasures.

“We wanted the best piano, so Steinway was obviously our choice,” this client explained. “But even the lightest finish of the Steinway Sheraton upright piano was too dark for our light, open design. We were amazed at the creativity of their craftsmen. It is exactly what we wanted.”

Using a finishing technique typically only found in Italy, components are mixed as they are applied.

The result is a durable finish that is lighter than the raw wood.

“The design of the piano was perfect, but the sun had bleached out the finish over a half-century. Still, the standard finish would have been too light for our intimate, rich interior. We were able to provide samples of what we wanted and they matched the piano’s finish exactly.”

Before

Instead of matching the original finish, this Steinway was finished darker during the course of rebuilding, to give the customer exactly what they wanted. Notice the ivory Steinway & Sons inlay in the center of the key cover board.

“It was important to me that I find a finish that would match my home while preserving the integrity of my Steinway that was passed down to me by my grandmother. Grant and his team gave me exactly what I wanted!”

The original finish, faded and worn.

After rebuilding and refinishing to a slightly lighter luster and darker tone to accentuate the grain of the Honduran Mahogany finish.
