Steinway Piano Society Members Event

We welcome the new year with two exciting Peruvian performers in one amazing evening!

Pedro ChePedro Che was born in Trujillo, Peru. He started to play piano at the age of 11 under his father’s instruction before entering the Carlos Valderrama Conservatory.  In 2011 he received a top prize in the Belhaven Competition for Young Artists in Peru. He is currently a Senior Piano Performance Major at the Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University where he holds the Charles Lussenhop & Kay Slocum Piano Scholarship. He studies with Dr. Michael Baron, Distinguished Professor of Music and Head of Keyboard Studies. He has also distinguished himself by performing frequently to critical acclaim and being chosen as the Piano Winner of the Young Artists Awards Competition sponsored by the Alliance for the Arts of Fort Myers.

Manuel Molina FloresManuel Molina Flores was born in Lima, Peru.  He began to study music with his father when he was 9 years old. He formalized his studies of music at the National Conservatory of Lima under the tutelage of Carlota Bravo. He has given many recitals in Lima and his repertoire includes major works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt, the last being his favorite composer. After participating in a master class given by Dr. Michael Baron in Lima, he was invited to continue his studies at the Bower School of Music of Florida Gulf Coast University where is currently holds The Myra N. and Van Zandt Williams, Jr. Scholarship as a senior piano performance major. He is the state winner of the Byrd Piano Competition sponsored by the Florida Music Teachers Association. He also was first prize winner in the piano division of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Competition, and received a $2,000 scholarship for further study from the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Society Music Competition, and received Second Place in the Florida Music Teachers Association Competition in St. Petersburg where he competed against all the top pianists in the state including several doctoral students. Most recently he won second prize in the Christine Kefferstan National Piano Competition at West Virginia University.
